Vintage 1940s Watercolour Painting, East Yorkshire? Country House and Stable by Billy Wilson, Framed

£100.00 GBP

Painting from 1941. Frame from the 1980s.
Original watercolour painting on cartridge paper, mounted and framed. Ready to hang.

Part view of a country house with trees and fencing, and a narrow road leading down the side of the house to a stable. Signed Billy Wilson July 1941.
Location not stated but there is an old label on the back of the frame which states it was given as a gift in 1988 at the Holderness Hounds Beswick Hall Meet (the Holderness Hunt). Therefore the house and stable may be in, or related to, that area of East Yorkshire. Lovely picture!
Art Style: Rustic, semi-naive, old fashioned, quaint.

Frame Details:
Brown board overlay mount. Narrow wooden frame, brown with gold colour inner edges. Glass to front. Board back on frame with tabbed and taped edges and metal eyes with cord for hanging. Some of the frame fittings are newer. Two old labels on the back of the frame (a rough hand-written gift label, and a printed dealer's or previous owner's label). The two labels were salvaged/preserved from the original frame backing when we refurbished it, as it gives some nice history to the picture.
