Vintage Tintagel Castle Watercolour Painting on a Print 1981, Signed S. M. Sargeant, Framed

1980s watercolour painting on a print, mounted and framed, ready to hang. Hand-signed by the artist. Appears to be painted on cartridge paper.

Depicting a coastal landscape scene with Tintagel Castle (printed title on the picture) in Cornwall, England. Castle ruins with narrow roadway and grass verges. The sea in the background. Sky above. Gentle colours. Contemporary impressionist style.
Artist: S. M. Sargeant. Pencil written signature, and also a printed signature and year 1981, on the picture.

Frame Details:
Board overlay mount in sage green. Moulded wooden frame, warm brown with stippled muted gold inner edges. Glass to front. Hardboard back on frame with tabbed and taped edges with metal eyes with string for hanging (these are newer).

Size:
External size, including frame, approx 14 7/8 x 13 7/8 inches, 37.8cm x 35.2cm. Size of visible artwork only (the mount aperture) approx 10 4/10 x 9 3/10 inches, 26.5cm x 23.7cm. Upright.

Condition Notes:
Small stray speck of paint on the upper left edge of the painting. Paper surface of the painting has some waves which become more visible when angled in the light (wavy surfaces are often seen with watercolours on paper). Mount, glass and back of frame excellent. Wooden frame edges have little soft indents and lines in the wood.
